How to refund amount for cancelled train in lockdown by IRCTC

In case of train cancellation by Indian Railways, passengers are advised not to cancel their tickets full refund will be  automatically process by IRCTC on  day of train journey.

In view of lockdown, Indian Railways has cancelled all trains till April 14. It shared information regarding refund of cancelled trains. IRCTC said it is an largescale cancellation,a huge number of refund transactions involved so refund processing may take some time.

IRCTC through website informed that refund will be made in user accounts in 4 to 7 working days following journey dates of the trains cancelled. IRCTC is working with less staff strength and trying to process the refunds in fastest possible manner for all those cancelled trains.

Note that IRCTC process full refund and it will be made  automatically who have booked their tickets for journey period. Users not to cancel tickets to ensure refund their fare amount will be automatically refund in their account.


Refund process is fully automatic.You don't need to cancel the ticket. In case of cancellation of trains in its complete journey by Indian Railways refund no action required on the part of users. Users are requested not to give response to any false call.IRCTC never asks for user credentials for making refund.

How to track cancellation status of cancelled ticket?

If train is cancelled, e-ticket will be automatically cancelled and user will receive SMS about the cancellation of e-ticket.

  •  My Transactions 
  • Ticket 
  • Cancellation History.
